From Phoenix, Tucson or Green Valley in Arizona, the bus will take you to the magical, colonial town of El Fuerte, “the gateway to the Copper Canyon”, where you will hop aboard the Chihuahua al Pacífico railroad (“El Chepe”) on your way into the Copper Canyon. Each bus accommodates up to 50 passengers. There are four complete bus ride days to and from the Canyon.

    Day 2

    through the Sonoran Desert to San Carlos on the spectacular Sea of Cortez. We stop after crossing the border at Nogales to get our tourist cards. Arrive in San Carlos around 5:30pm

    After your breakfast continue your trip to the picturesque colonial town of El Fuerte, founded in 1564. Famous for being the legendary birthplace of Señor Diego de la Vega, you will meet the charming Zorro at 6:00pm happy hour. El Fuerte has been named a Pueblo Màgico (Magic town) by the Mexican Government because of the plaza’s beautifully preserved colonial architecture, and festive, romantic atmosphere. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard full of tropical vegetation, a swimming pool, a hydrotherapy pool, and is well known for its superb cuisine. Arrive in El Fuerte around 5:00-6:00pm.

    Today, we visit the Mayo Indian museum. We explore El Fuerte's rich colonial history through a guided walking tour. This town dates to 1564 when a settlement was established along the river by the Spanish conquistador, Don Francisco de Ibarra. Enjoy an optional river float on the El Fuerte River and a visit to the Mayo Indian Village Museums. (Approx. $30/person, min. 4 travelers)

    Day 5

    After breakfast, transfer to the El Fuerte train station (15 minutes away). Board the Copper Canyon train (The famous Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad – El Chepe). The train ride is an inspiring journey that took more than 100 years to construct. National Geographic calls it an engineering marvel. Imagine yourself riding a train that will take you from sea level to almost 8,000 feet elevation into the heart of the majestic, rugged western Sierra Madre Mountain Range (25,000 square miles of unspoiled landscape). This is our first day on the train, it is the most spectacular part of the route. Your hotel is a charming Spanish-style lodge with lovely gardens. Enjoy an optional winery tour (Approx. $15/person).

    A world-class view awaits you today at the top of Urique Canyon overlooking the deepest canyon in the system. It provides the most expansive canyon views on the trip. After this tour, a land transfer to the Hotel Mirador on the Rim in the heart of the Copper Canyon. This hotel is the very best hotel in all the Copper Canyon area. The breathtaking view from your balcony is worth the whole trip.

    Day 7

    At 9:00 a.m. board the bus for a tour to the Balancing Rock area and a walk along the canyon rim. An optional cable ride across the chasm is available (Approx. $30/person). This is an experience at Copper Canyon that you will not want to miss! If you are adventuresome, there is an optional zip line course which you would pay directly (Approx. $50 with a one-way cable car ride).

    Day 8

    Following a 7:00am delicious breakfast buffet, board the bus at 8:00am for your 312-mile journey to the town of Casas Grandes and its famous pottery. This pottery is in museums all over the world! We will have a pottery-making demonstration this afternoon. Arrive at the hotel around 6:30pm.
